New Concord is licensed to manufacture explosives in Nigeria
Our explosives manufacturing licence (Civil) authorises local production of electric and non-electric detonators, cast boosters, detonating cord and cartridge explosives.
The New Concord Info-Tech International Ltd has been granted an explosives manufacturing licence (Civil). The licence authorises local production of electric detonators, non-electric detonators, cast boosters, detonating cord and cartridge explosives.
This is the second explosives licence the company holds. The first — an explosives magazine licence — was obtained in the late 2000s and is the credential New Concord was built around. Together they cover manufacture, import, storage, transport and supply.

Ammonium nitrate is not covered by the manufacturing licence and is not manufactured by New Concord. We import, store and supply it under our existing import permits and magazine licence, as we always have.
Where production stands
The licence has been granted. The manufacturing facility has not yet been sited, and production has not commenced. We are working through siting and commissioning now, and we are talking to operators about forward supply agreements in the meantime.
We are saying this plainly because the alternative — implying production that is not yet running — is not the basis on which anyone should buy explosives.
Why it matters
Nigeria's mining and construction sectors import almost all of their blasting consumables. That means long lead times, exposure to foreign exchange movement, and schedules that slip when a shipment does. Local production shortens that chain.
